More Than Just a Gift is our award winning gift shop based at Narborough Hall in Leicestershire. We offer a handpicked range of beautiful gifts, jewellery, accessories, cards and much more. All displayed against the backdrop of this 425 year old building. 

The shop is easy to reach, just two miles from Fosse Park and Junction 21 of the M1, with free onsite parking available at the Hall. You can find directions here

We’re known for our thoughtfully curated selection, including much-loved brands such as Jellycat alongside independent British designers and publishers. Every product is chosen for its quality, design and giftability, so you can feel confident you’ll find something meaningful and a little bit special. More Than Just a Gift is a dedicated gift and card shop rather than a café or visitor attraction. We focus on beautifully curated products to browse and enjoy within the unique setting of Narborough Hall.

The shop was established here over 30 years ago to fund the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the stone-built, Grade II listed Hall, and that remains its purpose today. This cause is important to me, as Narborough Hall is my childhood home.

50 years ago, my parents bought the house as a dilapidated wreck and spent many years painstakingly restoring it to its former glory. You can find out more about the Hall’s history here. However, the realities of maintaining such an old building soon outstripped their teacher salaries, and it became clear that the Hall needed to generate its own income to survive.

Narborough Hall opened its doors as a shop in 1992, and I was smitten from the very beginning. Long before then, I loved browsing independent gift shops and kept every greeting card I was sent. While others had posters of pop stars on their bedroom walls, mine was covered in cards.

Throughout college and university, I’d spend almost all my free time helping in the shop. My boyfriend Simon joined in with me and we worked hard to make the business sustainable. Soon we formally took the reins of the business and in 2000 we got married. We’ve spent the years side by side, growing our business alongside growing our own family.

All these years later, I still remember the excitement of opening the very first delivery of products, and that feeling has never left me. Simon and I remain constantly inspired by the creativity and originality of the British gift industry, and now our daughter, Dulcie, is part of the wonderful team that works alongside us too. Together, we are endlessly working to bring you the very best gift ideas to share with your friends and family.

Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5.30pm
